For me, music is essential. I
always listen to music whenever I can. It’s a way for me to relax and have fun.
It’s also relieves stress for me. Although we live in the U.S and we have great
music here, I usually listen to KPOP. KPOP is Korean Pop. KPOP includes all
different genres together including pop ballad, R&B, rock, dance-pop,
electronic, hip-hop, etc. KPOP artists consist more of music groups than solo
artists. In each group, members range from 3 to 13 members. Because there are
more music groups, they have choreography too. On stage, they dance and sing. Although it’s
in a different language that I don’t understand, I still like it. In my
opinion, you don’t need to know what they’re saying for it to be good. That
doesn’t mean I don’t like to know the meaning of the songs. That’s why I look
for English Subtitles. They’re always available so you don’t feel so lost.
KPOP was
something I started when I was in the Junior High. I listened to it at first
because of the eye candy, but after I actually listened and got more into it, I
started listening for the music. The music was important to me because I was
able to sometimes relate to it with situations that I encountered. For example,
the song Someday by U-Kiss talks about how sometimes things
go right and sometimes things go wrong. In the end, you just have to get up and
try again. The lyrics really encouraged me whenever I feel stressed to get up
and try again. It’s also important to me because most of KPOP songs have
choreography that goes along with it. Dancing is my favorite thing to do, so I
would learn the dances to the songs. For example, the song I Got A Boy by Girls’
Generation is a mix of hip hop and rap. When I first heard this song, I was
in a different country. I loved everything about it, the dance, song, music
video, just about everything. As soon as I got back home, it was on constant
repeat and I watched it all the time to learn the dance moves. I was able to
have fun and relieve stress at the same time. I also like to sing to relieve
stress. Closer by Taeyeon is a ballad that I enjoy singing
to. Most of the songs on my playlist, as you can read, help me in some way
whether it’s relieving stress or encouraging me. These are some of the reasons
why the songs are important to me.
Because my
playlist consists of two genres, you might think that I only like those two
types of music but, I like many different genres of KPOP. You also might assume that I only like KPOP
but, I actually like all kinds of music. I’m pretty open to listen to anything
but prefer to listen to KPOP. You also might think that I probably like to sing
and dance according to my playlist. That one is actually true. Also, you might
assume that I change my mood constantly to being happy to being sad. I’m
actually quite the fun and happy person. I don’t like feeling down and I don’t
like others feeling down either. Although through this playlist, you might not
get a clear view of who I am as a person, I hope this has helped you at least
learn a little bit about who I am.
I have never really listened to this genre of music but I really liked the video you included and I might go listen to more. I like that you included that this music can cheer you up when you're upset, we all need music like that. (And I agree with you on the eye candy part).
